Oregon plumbing code requires water pressure to not be over 80 PSI. Not only is it code but also it's not good for your plumbing system. Water pressure over 80 PSI causes more wear and tear on your plumbing system especially if you don't have an expansion tank to relieve the pressure. Not only does it cause wear and tear but it also waste water. We recommend checking your water pressure regularly to protect your plumbing system. If your water pressure is over 80 PSI Oregon plumbing code requires a Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) and expansion tank.
In my opinion if your house has galvanized water pipes they need to be replaced. Galvanized water pipes rust or corrode from the inside to the outside. I'm not a health expert but water that is brown is probably not safe to cook or clean your body with. Galvanized water pipes also clog water fixtures and angle stops causing low water
In my opinion if your house has galvanized water pipes they need to be replaced. Galvanized water pipes rust or corrode from the inside to the outside. I'm not a health expert but water that is brown is probably not safe to cook or clean your body with. Galvanized water pipes also clog water fixtures and angle stops causing low water volume and have the potential to cause water damage to your property. Another product I recommend repiping is CPVC. CPVC is a legal product to use in a residence but don't know how the manufacturer sleeps at night. I lost count a long time ago the amount of times I've seen CPVC break and cause water damage. I'm surprised insurance companies even insure houses with CPVC.
We recommend inspecting your crawl space regularly for plumbing leaks. Kitchen drains that are galvanized pipe are a common problem. Kitchen waste leaking in a crawl space causes a lot of problems like bad smell and bug problems. The bugs I've seen attracted to kitchen waste I didn't even know existed. Other common leaks in the crawl space are toilets, showers and bathtub drains.
A good way to upgrade a bathroom is installing a new toilet. Toilets come in different types. Elongated or round bowl, height, one piece or two piece are just some of the examples.
